plum upside-down cake, vegan MoFo.

plumcake2We are in the thick of Vegan MoFo III, the Vegan Month of Food.

You are looking at Plum Upside-down Cake from Jae Steele’s upcoming book, Ripe From Around Here (due out in Spring).

As a tester for Jae I have been spoiled, I know. But what can I say, I want to share these little delectables with you. And the book will be out in Spring, so hold tight. It’s a keeper.

I love upside-down cakes – they’re like little surprises. And they always look so pretty, with little effort. I also love plums. As soon as I saw the recipe for this cake on Jae’s testing list, I knew I’d be making it. This cake is sweet and gooey and decadent. Jae really knows how to choose spices to compliment the star ingredient in a given recipe, and this cake is no exception.

Sorry to be a tease. To make it up to you, here’s a roundup of delicious looking upside-down cakes from around the web to inspire and tempt you further:

Plum Kuchen from VeganYumYum.

Peach Upside-Down Cake from FatFree Vegan Kitchen.

Apricot Upside-Down Cake from Your Vegan Mom.

Dia’s Upside Down Cake from Cooking With Dia (apple and gluten-free).

  1. Your cake looks delicious! I really have to go and see if there are still local plums to be found at the market… I’d been meaning to try Vegan Yum Yum’s plum kuchen ever since she posted the recipe, so thank you for the reminder!
